Lucknow – Under the aegis of Headquarters, Central Uttar Pradesh Sub Area (HQ MUPSA), the 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the 11 Gorkha Rifles Regimental Centre (11 GRRC) in Lucknow.
The event witnessed the gracious presence of Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, Army Commander, Central Command. This year’s theme, “Yoga for Self and Society” (translated from “One Earth, One Health”), highlighted the intrinsic connection between individual well-being and environmental harmony. It resonated deeply with the Indian cultural ethos of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” — the belief that the world is one family.
The celebration commenced with the live telecast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address, followed by a guided session of the Common Yoga Protocol conducted by well-trained yoga experts.
Over 600 participants, including military personnel, their families, senior officers, women, and children, took part in the session. The event became a true symbol of collective participation, discipline, and wellness among all ranks at the Lucknow Station.
The celebration of Yoga Day within the Army not only promoted physical fitness and mental balance but also underscored the Indian Army’s commitment to nurturing a healthy and alert nation — both within and beyond the frontlines.
