Yoga Leads the Way to a Healthy Life: Grand Celebration of International Yoga Day at Jayaprakash Narayan Sarvodaya Schools

Lucknow : The 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated with great fervor and energy at Jayaprakash Narayan Sarvodaya Schools across Uttar Pradesh. Themed “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, this year’s celebration emphasized the collective responsibility of maintaining physical, mental, and environmental well-being.

Organized under the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Uttar Pradesh, the event saw enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, staff members, and parents, all coming together to embrace the ancient Indian practice of yoga as a pathway to holistic health.

At the heart of the celebration were synchronized yoga sessions, where participants performed asanas such as Surya Namaskar, Anulom-Vilom, Bhramari, Tadasana, and Vajrasana, fostering both physical vitality and mental clarity.

Minister of State for Social Welfare,  Asim Arun, addressed all schools through a special message, highlighting that yoga is not just physical exercise, but a tool for mental and spiritual purification. He encouraged students to adopt yoga as a daily habit, rather than limiting it to a one-day event. “In today’s world of competition, digital stress, and increasing distractions, yoga equips our children with calmness, discipline, and emotional resilience,” he said.

Beyond the yoga sessions, the day was marked by a variety of co-curricular activities including speech contests, poster-making, essay writing, and quizzes centered around the theme and benefits of yoga. These activities sparked creativity and raised awareness among students about the importance of a balanced lifestyle.

Many schools also invited expert yoga instructors, who not only guided the participants through structured sessions but also explained the science and philosophy behind the asanas.

The event turned into a collective celebration of health, mindfulness, and unity, reflecting the deep-rooted cultural legacy of yoga in India and its growing relevance in contemporary life.

As the programs concluded, a shared resolution echoed across the campuses: to make yoga a part of daily life, ensuring a healthier future for individuals and society alike.
