Lucknow – In celebration of World Environment Day, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh led by example by planting a Bael sapling at his official residence in Lucknow, delivering a powerful message of environmental conservation. Accompanying him were Dr. Arun Kumar Saxena, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and K.P. Malik, Minister of State, along with senior officials including Anil Kumar, Principal Secretary, and Sunil Chaudhary, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests.
In another significant event, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya planted a Harishankari sapling at Mohanlalganj Range under Awadh Forest Division. Similarly, at Kukrail Range, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh planted a “Pavitra Triveni” – Peepal, Banyan, and Neem – symbolizing harmony with nature.
At Kukrail Picnic Spot, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal and MLA O.P. Srivastava established an “Oxy Van” by planting 190 saplings. The event featured schoolchildren, teachers, and NGOs. A drawing competition was held for students, with winners felicitated by dignitaries. Social and volunteer organizations were also honored for their contributions to environmental conservation.

In BKT Range, MLA Dr. Neeraj Bora planted a Banyan tree at the Engineering College premises. Similar activities took place in Malihabad, Sarojininagar, and other ranges, with active participation from public representatives, officials, and citizens.
The mass plantation drive underscored the government’s commitment to sustainable environmental practices across Uttar Pradesh.
