Soumya Emerges Winner at Inter-University Debate Competition Hosted by BBD University

Lucknow: An inter-university debate competition organized by the cultural club Aaina of Babu Banarasi Das University (BBDU) in collaboration with the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, saw enthusiastic participation from students across various universities. The theme, in line with the ministry’s directive—“One Earth, One Health”—focused on the topic: “From Knowledge to Awareness: A Debate on Yoga.”

Participants delivered thought-provoking and well-reasoned arguments on the philosophical, scientific, and contemporary relevance of yoga, highlighting its role in promoting holistic well-being.

Soumya clinched the first prize, followed by Kshitij in second place and Shivang Mishra in third. The winners were awarded trophies, certificates, and cash prizes in recognition of their outstanding performances.

The event was graced by eminent guests, including Prof. (Dr.) Manisha Shukla from the University of Lucknow, Prof. (Dr.) Alok Agrawal from Amity University, and Architect Naveen Singh of Vastu Dhara Architects. To ensure transparency in the evaluation process, Dr. Shabistan Jafri from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences and Dr. Pooja Gyanchandani from the Department of Hotel Management served as official observers.

The event also witnessed the presence of Dean of Student Welfare Prof. (Dr.) S.M.K. Rizvi and Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) S.C. Sharma, who honored the distinguished guests with floral bouquets and mementos.

Under the guidance of Dr. Yogita Yadav, the cultural club Aaina successfully conducted the event, which not only provided a platform for intellectual exchange but also inspired youth to explore and appreciate the rich tradition of yoga and its impact on physical and mental health.
