Lucknow – The Uttar Pradesh Police has been conferred with two prestigious national-level awards in recognition of its exceptional contribution to digital empowerment and innovation in policing. These accolades highlight the force’s pivotal role in translating the vision of Digital India into ground reality.
The Director General of Police (DGP), Prashant Kumar, received the “Digital Visionary Award” for his leadership in integrating advanced technology within the policing system. Meanwhile, RahuI Srivastava, in charge of the Police Department’s social media and public relations wing, was honoured with the “Excellence in Digital Media Policing Award”.
The awards were jointly presented by MAAC (Media and Animation Communication Council) and NOMES (National Organization for Media and e-Governance Studies), two of the country’s most respected institutions in the field of digital media and governance.

DGP Prashant Kumar was recognised for his instrumental role in equipping the Uttar Pradesh Police with cutting-edge digital tools and for successfully implementing systems like digital reporting, social media intelligence, and rapid response mechanisms. “By incorporating digital technologies, we have ensured a more efficient policing system and established direct, transparent communication with the public,” said DGP Kumar after receiving the award. The Social Media and Public Relations Department of the Uttar Pradesh Police, led by Rahul Srivastava, was separately awarded the “Excellence in Digital Media Policing Award”. “This recognition signifies how digital platforms, when used responsibly and effectively, can strengthen the bond between police and the public,” Srivastava noted.
