North India’s Largest International Film City Set to Rise on Yamuna Expressway

Construction to Begin Soon; Bayview Projects LLP to Develop Studios and Film Institute in First Phase

Lucknow/Greater Noida: Uttar Pradesh is on the cusp of a cinematic revolution. The much-anticipated International Film City, a dream project of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is all set to begin construction by the end of this month or early next month. The sprawling 1000-acre facility will be built along the Yamuna Expressway in YEIDA’s Sector-21 and is poised to become North India’s largest and most advanced film production hub.

Bayview Projects LLP, the company led by renowned film producer Boney Kapoor, has been selected to execute the project. The geotechnical survey of the designated land is nearly complete, and the company is expected to submit the building plan within the next two to three days. Preparatory works, including land leveling, road development, and site cleaning, are already progressing at a rapid pace. Once all necessary approvals are secured, the foundation stone for the film city will be laid by CM Yogi Adityanath himself.

State-of-the-Art Studios and Film Institute in Phase 1

According to Bayview Projects LLP General Manager Rajeev Arora, the company is fully prepared to kick off construction as soon as the building plan is approved. In the first phase alone, the plan includes the development of 13–14 state-of-the-art sound studios and a sprawling film institute spread over nearly 3 lakh square meters. The entire project will unfold in three phases over the next eight years. “We are building a film city that will turn CM Yogi Adityanath’s vision into reality,” said Arora.

Transformative Impact on UP’s Image and Economy

This ambitious project is expected to transform Uttar Pradesh’s image by establishing it as a premier destination for film production, media, entertainment, and tourism. The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), under the directives of the Chief Minister, is working proactively to expedite the project. Land acquisition and farmer compensation processes have been completed with full transparency.

Beyond its cinematic appeal, the film city is expected to generate significant employment, attract major investment, and amplify the state’s cultural footprint. It will not only provide opportunities for filmmakers from across the country and abroad but also nurture local talent and bring global exposure to UP’s creative community.

₹1510 Crore Investment in First Phase Alone

The film city will be developed across 1000 acres in Sector-21 of the Yamuna Expressway region. In Phase 1, work will commence on 230 acres, with an estimated investment of ₹1510 crore. Bayview Projects LLP was chosen as the highest bidder after offering an impressive 18% gross revenue share. The Letter of Award was issued last year, and on June 27, 2024, the concession agreement was signed between YEIDA and Boney Kapoor’s firm. The Right of Way was formally handed over to the concessionaire on February 27, 2025.

The project’s master plan was approved on January 30, 2025, and phases 2 and 3 will later expand to the remaining 770 acres. Upon completion, the International Film City is expected to redefine the cinematic landscape of India and position Uttar Pradesh as a film production powerhouse.

With infrastructure in motion and administrative wheels turning, Uttar Pradesh is set to become the new epicenter of India’s film industry.
