Lucknow: In a swift operation, the Gomti Nagar police, in collaboration with the Crime Team of the Eastern Zone, have arrested three individuals within 24 hours in connection with a double homicide case. The accused have been identified as Ramdev alias Mahadev (40), Shivraj alias Shiva (19), and Mohit Kumar (19).

The case was registered on April 20, 2025, at Gomti Nagar police station based on a complaint filed by Vandana Kumari, a resident of Kaiserganj, Bahraich. She reported the murder of her husband, Ram Savore, and injuries to another person, Rakesh, by unknown assailants. The case was registered under Section 103(1)/109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), equivalent to the previous IPC sections, and the investigation was assigned to Inspector Rajesh Kumar Tripathi.

On the same day, the Gomti Nagar police received information about two individuals found near the railway tracks in the Viram Khand area of Gomti Nagar – one deceased and one injured. Upon reaching the spot, police rushed both individuals to the hospital, where one was declared dead. The deceased was identified as Ram Savore, while efforts were underway to identify the other injured person.

Following the incident, senior police officials inspected the crime scene, and a forensic team was called in. Four teams were formed to investigate the case. By analyzing CCTV footage from the vicinity and acting on intelligence, the police teams apprehended the three accused near the bushes adjacent to the railway track in Gomti Nagar Extension at around 11:55 AM on April 21, 2025.

Upon the identification of the arrested individuals, the police recovered the weapons used in the crime – a bat, a stick, a rope, a belt, and a plastic bottle containing a black liquid substance.

The investigation revealed that the deceased Ram Savore and the unidentified Rakesh had allegedly entered the accused’s residence with the intention of theft while under the influence of alcohol during the night. Upon realizing the attempted theft, the accused apprehended and assaulted both individuals. After the assault, the accused allegedly painted the bodies of the deceased with black paint, wrote “420” on them, and dumped them in a critical condition near the railway tracks in the Viram Khand area of Gomti Nagar.
