Abhishek Sharma Soars to Second Spot in ICC T20 Rankings

Dubai: Indian opener Abhishek Sharma has made a remarkable leap in the latest ICC T20 International batting rankings, climbing 38 spots to secure the second position. Meanwhile, his teammate Tilak Varma has slipped to third place.

The meteoric rise of Abhishek Sharma comes on the back of a stunning innings in the fifth and final T20 match against England in Mumbai, where he smashed 135 runs off just 54 balls, including 13 sixes. This knock  of Abhishek Sharma not only powered India to a 4-1 series victory but also became the highest individual score by an Indian male cricketer in T20 internationals.

Travis Head Holds Top Spot, Suryakumar in Top-5

Australian batter Travis Head continues to lead the rankings with 855 rating points, but Abhishek is now just 26 points behind him. Meanwhile, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav remains steady at the fifth position.

Indian Bowlers Shine in T20 Rankings

In the bowling rankings, Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy’s exceptional performance against England, where he claimed 14 wickets, has propelled him three spots higher to a joint second position alongside England’s Adil Rashid. Chakravarthy was also named Player of the Series.

Spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who took five wickets in the series, climbed four spots to secure the sixth position, while left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh has entered the top-10 at ninth place. West Indies’ Akeal Hosein has reclaimed the number one spot in T20 bowling rankings, displacing Adil Rashid.

Abhishek Sharma & Indian Dominance in Test Rankings

Australia’s dominant innings-and-242-run victory against Sri Lanka in Galle has led to significant ranking shifts. Stand-in captain Steve Smith climbed three places to fifth after scoring his 35th Test century, while opener Usman Khawaja surged six places to 11th after his career-best knock of 232 runs.

India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal remains at fourth position, while England’s Joe Root continues to hold the top spot, followed by Harry Brook and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson.

With Abhishek Sharma, Bumrah Retains No. 1 Spot in Test Bowling Rankings

Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah remains the world’s top-ranked Test bowler. Recently, he was also honored as the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year and the Best Test Cricketer. Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja holds the ninth position.

South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada has moved up one place to second, followed by Australian skipper Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Pakistan’s Nauman Ali.

With Indian players excelling across formats, the rankings highlight the country’s growing dominance in world cricket.
