In Uttar Pradesh, Horticulture gets much needed fillip

Lucknow:  Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing, Agricultural Foreign Trade and Agricultural Export, Dinesh Pratap Singh said that the Yogi government is taking many meaningful steps in the interest of farmers. Special efforts are being made to connect farmers with modern technology and innovation. In this episode, ‘Per Block One Crop’ scheme is being started, which aims to increase the income of farmers and improve the quality of their produce.

The Horticulture Minister said that a special crop will be selected in every block, which will be most suitable according to the climate and soil of that area. Under this scheme, farmers will be encouraged to grow the same type of crop, which will not only improve the quality of the crop but will also increase production. This will increase the income of farmers and they will also get a better market.

He said that farmers have immense potential in the field of horticulture. Growing horticultural crops with high value, GI tagged varieties, processing demand and in line with the demand of foreign market will increase the income of farmers. Along with this, the Horticulture Department will also play an important role in achieving the target of 1 trillion dollar economy of the state.

The Horticulture Minister also informed that the pricing and marketing system is being strengthened further to ensure that farmers get a fair price for their produce. The Horticulture and Food Processing Department is reviewing at the divisional level and compiling details of major horticultural crops from every block, based on which an action plan will be prepared. Under this scheme, technical assistance, training and improved variety of seeds will be provided to the farmers.
