CM Yogi reviews Law and Order ahead of festivals

Lucknow: In a significant move to ensure law and order in the upcoming festive season, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a high-level meeting on law and order in Lucknow. The meeting, conducted via video conferencing, was attended by key officers, including the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary Home, DGP Prashant Kumar, and ADG Law & Order Amitabh Yash. Several other senior officers, such as Commissioners, District Magistrates (DMs), IGs, DIGs, ADGs, and Commissioners of Police (CPs), also participated in the meeting.

Key Focus Areas of Review

  1. Crime Control and Women’s Safety: The Chief Minister emphasized a detailed review of crime control mechanisms and stressed the importance of ensuring women’s safety across the state. He directed officials to remain vigilant and work towards crime prevention during the festive period, as this is a time when law and order can come under strain.
  2. Security for Upcoming Festivals: Special emphasis was laid on preparations for the upcoming festival season, including Navratri, Diwali, and Chhath. CM Yogi urged the police and administration to be on high alert, particularly during these busy periods, to prevent any untoward incidents. He also highlighted the need for joint efforts to maintain a joyous and safe atmosphere throughout the state.
  3. Increased Patrolling and Action Plan: Taking lessons from past experiences, CM Yogi instructed the officials to formulate a detailed action plan to increase police patrolling. The presence of police personnel across all levels, from beat constables to senior officers, should be visible on the streets, ensuring that common people feel safe and secure.
  4. Engagement with Durga Puja Committees: The Chief Minister directed immediate communication with Durga Puja committees within the next two days, to ensure smooth celebrations and avoid incidents that could hurt religious sentiments. He also asked for careful planning in constructing pandals, making sure that roads are not dug up, and traffic remains unaffected.
  5. Public Welfare Initiatives: In a gesture to support the festive spirit, CM Yogi announced that from Diwali onwards, every beneficiary of the Ujjwala Yojana will receive a free LPG cylinder. This move aims to provide relief to many households in the state.
  6. Streamlined Administrative Procedures: The Chief Minister stressed the need for quick resolution of cases related to inheritance, transfers, family partitions, and land measurements. He instructed that such issues be settled promptly to avoid unnecessary delays.
  7. Transport Management: To accommodate the increased demand for transportation during the festive season, CM Yogi ordered more buses on rural routes. He also instructed the removal of illegal and dilapidated buses from the roads, ensuring that public transport remains safe and efficient.
  8. Enhanced Intelligence Measures: With the possibility of conspiracies aimed at disrupting the railway network, CM Yogi emphasized the need for heightened intelligence and surveillance. Local systems, such as Chowkidars, were asked to remain vigilant and active.

The Chief Minister’s directives underscore a comprehensive and proactive approach to ensuring law and order during the festive season. His focus on women’s safety, public welfare, transportation, and prompt administrative processes reflects his commitment to maintaining peace and harmony across Uttar Pradesh.
