U.P. Government ensuring work for all says Deputy CM

Lucknow: Under the leadership and guidance of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister  Keshav Prasad Maurya, while the participation of women is being increased in MNREGA, the disabled are also being given ample work.

Under the MNREGA scheme, continuous employment is being provided to the needy people. Be it a poor laborer, woman or disabled, all have the right to get employment. People falling in the category of disabled are also being given employment by linking them to various works under the MNREGA scheme.

Work is provided to the disabled on the basis of their qualification, efficiency, ability.

According to the information received from the Rural Development Department, more than 53 thousand disabled people have been registered in MNREGA in the current financial year 2024-25 so far.

Out of these, work has also been provided to 16,231 disabled people under MNREGA, creating 4,40,408 man days. Rural Development Commissioner  GS Priyadarshi informed that in the current financial year, about 14 crore man-days were created under the MNREGA scheme in Uttar Pradesh, out of which more than 5.99 crore man-days have been created by women workers, which is more than 42.79 percent.

The participation of women under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MGNREGA) is also increasing continuously in the state.

The participation of women in man-day creation was 34 percent in 2019-20 and 2020-21, 37 percent in the year 2021-22, 38 percent in the year 2022-23 and in the year 2023-24 it has increased to an average of 42.26 percent, and now in the current financial year 2024-25 it has increased to 42.79 percent.
