New Delhi: The first solar eclipse of the year 2024 is going to happen on April 8. This event occurs before Chaitra Navratri in Hindu tradition, which is considered auspicious according to astrology.
According to Indian Standard Time, it will start from 09:12 PM on April 8, 2024 and will last till 2:22 AM. The duration of this solar eclipse will be 5 hours 10 minutes. It is advisable to avoid certain food items during the solar eclipse, such as cooked food, onion, garlic and non-vegetarian items.
It is said that cooked food is affected by negative energy during an eclipse, due to which some people choose raw or lightly cooked food which are easier to digest. According to religious beliefs, solar eclipse occurs on Amavasya and lunar eclipse occurs on Purnima Tithi.
Sutak period of solar eclipse starts 12 hours before. On this basis, the Sutak period of the solar eclipse should start from 09:12 am on 8th April.
