Ten thousand cataract operations will be done free of cost in SRMS

Chairman Devmurthy made the announcement at the inauguration ceremony of Breast Cancer CME and ATLS

Bareilly: Ten thousand cataract operations and robotic surgery of one needy person every week will be done free of cost in SRMS Medical College this year. This announcement was made by the founder and chairman of SRMS Trust Devmurthy at the joint inauguration ceremony of Breast Cancer CME and ATLS held recently.

He said that from its 23rd foundation year on July 4, SRMS Medical College has started the work of making health predictions of people in ten blocks of Bareilly. Through this, the health workers of SRMS are going from village to village, house to house and checking the health of the people. Along with screening, people are also being made aware of diseases like cancer.

Chairman Dev Murthy and Aditya Murthy installed the third linear accelerator in the Department of Radiation Oncology at RR Cancer Institute. Through this, all cancers of the body from head to toe are treated accurately. Cancer patients are treated at SRMS Medical College since 2015 with the latest technology of radiation like IMRT IGRT, VMAT.

A three-day Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course started at SRMS Medical College last weekend with CME on Breast Oncology. Its joint inaugural ceremony began with lighting of lamp on the statue of Maa Saraswati in the auditorium, Saraswati Vandana and Sansthan Geet.

In this, Dev Murtthy  expressed concern over the rapidly increasing breast cancer and increasing mortality rate in accidents. He called it the result of lack of awareness and negligence. He said that diseases like cancer are increasing due to lack of information, but due to negligence in not following safety standards, most people are losing their lives in accidents.

The habit of sticking to the mobile all the time, the increasing trend of making selfies and reels is increasing it even more. Such accidents can be prevented only by giving up negligence. Still, the possibility of trauma remains. In such a situation, knowledge of basic life support is necessary for everyone. With this, we can save the lives of others around us in such a situation.

Former Director of AIIMS Delhi and Chairperson of ATLS India and Chairman of the three-day ATLS course organized at SRMS Medical College, Professor (Dr.) MC Mishra described both cancer and trauma as dreadful. He said that the number of deaths due to both of these is serious.

Deaths due to trauma are increasing at a much faster rate than the speed at which cancer is increasing. In the year 1988, about 70 thousand people lost their lives in accidents. Today more than two lakh deaths are occurring in accidents. It is very serious that the number of youth is the highest in this. Although deaths can be reduced to a great extent by adopting safety measures, but the carelessness of the youth is taking a toll on it. In such a situation, the role of trauma management becomes even more important.

It is a matter of pride that SRMS has a state-of-the-art trauma center. Executive Director of NBE and Professor of Trauma Surgery at AIIMS Delhi (Dr.) Subodh Kumar described both trauma and oncology as important. He said that during the Covid pandemic, while all other health services were closed, these two continued to operate.

This makes the importance of trauma and oncology clear. Dr. Subodh also congratulated the SRMS management for treating trauma and oncology at a very low cost. Dean of TMC Kolkata, Dr. Sanjit Agarwal said that cancer is increasing rapidly, in this too the condition of breast cancer is becoming even more dreadful. One lakh deaths every year make its horror clear.

Former Chairman of the Department of Surgery at AIIMS Delhi and Chairman of Cancer Institute of Subharti Hospital, Dr. Anurag Srivastava attributed the increase in cancer, heart and diabetes to lack of awareness. He said that by screening more and more patients, we can control this dreadful situation. Our institute is always ready for the necessary training and support for this. Earlier, Principal of SRMS Medical College, Air Marshal (Retd.) Dr. MS Butola shared information about the achievements of the college. Organizing Chairperson of Breast Oncology CME, Dr. SK Sagar welcomed everyone including the guests.

He gave information about the horrors of breast cancer as well as the latest technology for its prevention and treatment. He said that CME increases skills and ultimately it is beneficial for the patients. ATLS site in-charge Dr. Harshit Agarwal called the first three-day Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course of this region a milestone.

He said that last year on this day, September 1, a trauma center was established here. In such a situation, the importance of the three-day Advanced Trauma Life Support course increases even more. Meanwhile, in one year, we attended more than 700 trauma patients and operated more than 350 patients. This has been possible only with the cooperation of all the departments.

In the inaugural ceremony, the vote of thanks was given by Dr. Amit Singh, Organizing Secretary of Breast Oncology CME and he thanked all the guests and delegates. On this occasion, Director of SRMS Medical College Aditya Murthy, former Head of General Surgery Department of RML Delhi, Professor (Dr.) AK Gupta, Commandant of Military Hospital Bareilly, Brigadier (Dr.) Kiran S, Associate Professor of AIIMS Rishikesh, Dr. Madhur were present.
