Rural Homeowners Gain Legal Ownership Rights Under SVAMITVA

Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak Addresses Media on PM SVAMITVA Scheme in Lucknow

Lucknow: Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak addressed a press conference  at the BJP Lucknow Metropolitan Office in Kaiserbagh, focusing on the ‘Pradhan Mantri SVAMITVA’ (Survey of Villages Abadi and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) Scheme. The event witnessed the presence of District President Vinay Pratap Singh, MLA Yogesh Shukla from Bakshi Ka Talab, Media In-Charge Praveen Garg, Anjani Srivastava, General Secretary Ram Avatar Kanaujia, Vijay Bhurji, and other senior party officials.

In his address, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the transformative impact of the SVAMITVA scheme, which aims to resolve long-standing issues related to property ownership in rural areas.

Key Highlights of the Address:

  1. Empowering Rural Citizens: Pathak highlighted that many citizens across the country live in houses they have occupied for generations but lack legal ownership documents. The absence of such documents has historically led to disputes, legal challenges, and difficulties in determining rightful ownership. The Deputy CM lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for launching this innovative initiative in 2020 to address these concerns.
  2. Ease of Access to Loans and Property Rights: He pointed out that due to the absence of legal titles, homeowners could not access loans against their ancestral properties in times of need. The SVAMITVA scheme provides homeowners with government-certified property cards, granting them legal ownership. This not only resolves disputes but also enables owners to leverage their properties for financial support when necessary.
  3. Wide Coverage and Implementation:
    • In Uttar Pradesh, the scheme is set to benefit 41 lakh homeowners across 29,000 villages in 74 districts.
    • Over 2 crore property cards have been prepared under the scheme nationwide, with 58 lakh cards set for distribution in a single day.
    • The Deputy CM mentioned that beneficiaries would receive a mobile link to access their property records, ensuring transparency and accessibility.
  4. Technological Edge: The scheme utilizes advanced drone and GIS (Geographic Information System) technology for precise mapping and surveying of rural inhabited areas. Surveys have already been completed in 3.17 lakh villages across the country, with 2.19 crore property cards prepared for 1.49 lakh villages.
  5. Administrative Benefits:
    • The scheme simplifies record-keeping for Gram Panchayats, enabling seamless land audits and facilitating the implementation of new government housing initiatives.
    • It minimizes property disputes and ensures undisputed property availability for rural development projects.
  6. Upcoming Launch: The official nationwide launch of the scheme is scheduled for January 2, 2025, at 12:30 PM, where Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the program virtually. The event will mark a significant milestone in rural empowerment and governance, underlining the government’s commitment to improving the lives of rural citizens.

Deputy CM’s Commitment:

Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak announced his participation in the program from Sitapur, where he will oversee the rollout of the scheme’s benefits to local residents. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will lead the launch from Lucknow. Pathak expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi on behalf of Uttar Pradesh’s 25 crore citizens for this historic initiative.

Impact on Rural Development:

The SVAMITVA scheme is poised to address decades-old challenges related to property rights in rural areas, ensuring legal certainty and financial empowerment for millions. It also aligns with the broader goals of rural upliftment, infrastructure development, and good governance.

The event concluded with a strong affirmation of the government’s dedication to transforming rural India through technology-driven solutions and citizen-centric policies.
