PM Modi tries breaking ice between Russia, Ukraine

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Vladimir Putin over phone and congratulated him after his re-election as the President of Russia. During this, both the leaders discussed the war between Russia and Ukraine. Right after this, PM Modi also spoke to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on phone.

While talking to Putin regarding the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, PM Modi had reiterated India’s stand that the issue should be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue. At the same time, PM Modi also asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to find a solution to the war through talks.

After talking to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, PM Modi wrote on social media platform X that he had a good conversation with the Ukrainian President on strengthening India-Ukraine partnership. He also conveyed India’s continued support to all peace efforts and an early end to the ongoing conflict. India will always continue humanitarian assistance.

Earlier, after a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, PM Modi wrote on his social media platform X that he spoke to President Putin and congratulated him on his re-election as the President of the Russian Federation. We agreed to work together to further deepen and expand the India-Russia strategic partnership in the years to come. At the same time, Vladimir Putin also wished Narendra Modi for the successful conduct of the upcoming parliamentary elections in India.

Vladimir Putin has again won the Russian Presidential elections by getting about 88 percent votes. With this victory, Putin will become the President of Russia for the fifth consecutive time. The Russia-Ukraine war has completed 2 years in February 2024.
