Noida: The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a major step towards strengthening metro connectivity between Noida and Ghaziabad by seeking a detailed report from the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) on the Noida Metro Phase-3 expansion. This project aims to extend metro services from Noida Sector-62 to Mohan Nagar, enhancing regional transport infrastructure.
The GDA’s engineering division is currently preparing the required documentation, which will outline the progress and final route alignment of the metro expansion. This expansion is expected to provide seamless connectivity for daily commuters between Noida and Ghaziabad, reducing congestion and travel time.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s Role in the Expansion
Earlier, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) was commissioned by GDA to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the metro extension. According to a report published by Jagran.com, the DPR suggests that the new metro line will link Noida Sector-62 with Sahibabad, where a foot overbridge will provide a direct connection to the Namo Bharat Train station. This connection will allow passengers to travel conveniently from Sahibabad to Mohan Nagar’s Red Line station.
Chief Engineer Manvendra Singh, who is overseeing the project, confirmed that the report is in its final stages and will soon be submitted to the state government for approval. The initiative is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion and provide a more efficient public transportation option for thousands of commuters.
New Roads to Improve Ghaziabad’s Infrastructure
In addition to metro expansion, the Ghaziabad Development Authority has also approved the construction of four new roads in the Rajnagar Extension area at an estimated cost of Rs 51 crore. The move is aimed at improving connectivity within the region and ensuring smoother traffic flow.
- A major road, 2,700 meters long and 24 meters wide, will be constructed at a cost of Rs 26.42 crore.
- Another road, 900 meters in length, will be built alongside sewage and drainage infrastructure in Sikrod village, with an estimated budget of Rs 19.76 crore.
- Two additional roads, each costing Rs 2.42 crore, will be developed: a 24-meter-wide road behind River Heights and an 18-meter-wide road linking Bandha Road to Noornagar.
Chief Engineer Manvendra Singh highlighted that these projects will greatly benefit residents by enhancing local infrastructure and connectivity in Rajnagar Extension, Sikrod, and Noornagar.
A Step Towards Better Urban Connectivity
The Noida Metro expansion and road development projects reflect the Uttar Pradesh government’s commitment to improving urban transport networks. The enhanced metro connectivity and road infrastructure are expected to contribute significantly to easing traffic congestion and supporting the rapid urbanization of Noida and Ghaziabad.
Authorities are optimistic that once approved, the metro extension project will commence at the earliest, bringing relief to thousands of daily commuters who struggle with traffic bottlenecks between Noida and Ghaziabad.
