Model Code of Conduct implementation continues

Lucknow: Chief Electoral Officer of the state,  Navdeep Rinwa said that with the announcement of the election dates of Lok Sabha General Election-2024 by the Election Commission of India on March 16, 2024, there is a need to conduct free, fair, peaceful, fear-free, inducement-free, inclusive and safe voting in the state. Model code of conduct is applicable in the entire state.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that to ensure effective compliance of the Model Code of Conduct, a total of 77,37,344 publicity materials have been removed from public and private places so far. In this, 46,74,954 promotional materials were removed from public places and 30,62,390 from private places. During this period, action was taken in 5,00,283 cases of wallwriting, 21,94,185 of posters, 13,39,062 of banners and 6,41,424 other cases in public places. Similarly, action was taken in 3,97,258 cases of wallwriting, 13,98,112 of posters, 7,55,137 of banners and 5,11,883 other cases in private places.

Similarly, till now action has been taken in 1087 cases of misuse of beacon lights and flags in vehicles and 2006 cases of violation of the Loudspeaker Act. 38 FIRs have been registered in cases like holding meetings and speeches without permission, distributing cash to woo voters, beacon lights in vehicles, misuse of flags and other cases, in total 42 cases including 04 in NCR.
