Mahakumbh 2025: Helicopter Rides, Cultural Events, and Enhanced Facilities for Pilgrims

Prayagraj — Pilgrims attending the Mahakumbh 2025 will have the unique opportunity to view the entire fairground from a helicopter. The eight-minute ride, costing ₹3,000 per person, offers a bird’s-eye view of the vast expanse of the sacred event. A helipad has been set up near the Arail Tent City, with online bookings available for the service. This announcement was made by Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh on Thursday.

In addition to helicopter rides, the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC) is introducing activities such as paramotoring, hot air ballooning, Akhara Walks, and Kalpavasi area tours to enrich the Mahakumbh experience. The event, expected to host 40-50 crore pilgrims, has been equipped with advanced digital systems to ensure a seamless experience for visitors.

Advanced Facilities for Pilgrims

  • Mobile App Support: Visitors can access information about trains, buses, hotels, and other amenities through a dedicated mobile app.
  • Kumbh Assistant Chatbot: Pilgrims can get answers to their queries via a chatbot service.
  • QR Code Scans: Sites and facilities can be explored by scanning QR codes.
  • Web Security Audit: Measures have been implemented to protect pilgrims from fraudulent websites.

Infrastructure Highlights

  • Parking Facilities: Over 100 parking locations with a combined capacity of more than 5 lakh vehicles have been created to ensure minimal walking distances (not exceeding 1 km).
  • Accommodation:
    • Tent Cities: Modern tent cities with a capacity of 4,000 people have been constructed.
    • Dormitories and Dome City: Accommodations range from dormitories priced at ₹1,500 per night to luxurious domes costing ₹70,000 per day.
    • Shelters: Ample night shelter facilities ensure comfort for all.

Cultural Events and Exhibitions

Principal Secretary of Tourism and Culture, Mukesh Meshram, shared plans for cultural extravaganzas during the 45-day event.

  • Performances by renowned artists and local talents will take place across one large stage with a 10,000-person capacity and three smaller stages accommodating 2,000 people each.
  • Drone shows, short films on heritage monuments, and One District, One Product (ODOP) exhibitions will be key attractions.

Cabinet’s Participation

Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh also announced that a Cabinet meeting would be held during the Kumbh, with all members of the Cabinet taking a ceremonial dip in the holy waters. “Every visitor will leave as a brand ambassador of the Kumbh,” he stated.

With these arrangements, Mahakumbh 2025 promises to blend spirituality with modern amenities, providing an unforgettable experience for pilgrims from around the world.
