CM Yogi Meets Yamanashi Vice Governor, Emphasis on Green Hydrogen Collaboration
Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday held a courtesy meeting with a high-level delegation from Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, led by Vice Governor Junichi Ishidora, at his official residence in Lucknow. The meeting focused on strengthening the India–Japan strategic partnership, with particular emphasis on cooperation in green hydrogen, innovation, and sustainable industrial development.

Welcoming the eight-member Japanese delegation, the Chief Minister said that relations between India and Japan go beyond diplomacy and are rooted in mutual trust, discipline, innovation, and shared values of sustainable growth. He reaffirmed Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to translating this partnership into tangible outcomes at the grassroots level.
During the discussions, special emphasis was laid on the effective implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2024 between the Government of Uttar Pradesh and Yamanashi Prefecture. The MoU provides a strong framework for collaboration in clean energy—particularly green hydrogen—capacity building, innovation, and sustainable industrial ecosystems.
CM Yogi highlighted that Uttar Pradesh has taken proactive steps to promote research, innovation, and skill development in green hydrogen, including the establishment of Centres of Excellence. He also referred to the Uttar Pradesh Green Hydrogen Policy–2024, which aims to create a transparent, investor-friendly environment. The implementation of the policy has been entrusted to UPNEDA.

The meeting also noted as a major milestone the commercial launch of a green hydrogen pilot project in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region. The Japanese delegation appreciated the state government’s initiatives in the clean energy sector and expressed keen interest in expanding cooperation further.
Discussions also touched upon the deep civilisational and cultural ties between India and Japan, particularly the shared Buddhist heritage and the potential of the Buddhist tourism circuit to strengthen people-to-people connections.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the partnership between Uttar Pradesh and Yamanashi Prefecture would grow stronger in the coming years, opening new avenues in green energy, industrial development, innovation, and cultural exchange.
