Prayagraj: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has declared that ensuring the safety and convenience of every pilgrim and tourist during Maha Kumbh 2025 is the government’s top priority. Speaking at a preparatory review meeting in Prayagraj, the CM emphasized equitable treatment for all—be it Indian or foreign visitors, non-resident Indians, or residents of Prayagraj.
He outlined specific measures to enhance disaster management, cyber security, fire safety, ghat surveillance, and emergency medical systems during the event. Adityanath also stressed the need for 24/7 vigilance by security agencies and urged the implementation of anti-drone systems. He instructed authorities to combat fake websites and apps exploiting Maha Kumbh’s branding for fraudulent activities and called for public awareness campaigns on the issue.
Progress of Infrastructure and Security Measures
During the review, CM Yogi directed that all street vendors, auto-rickshaw drivers, and e-rickshaw operators undergo rapid police verification. To manage traffic, systematic arrangements were mandated on inter-district roads leading to Prayagraj.
Mela Officer Vijay Kiran Anand informed the CM that land allocations for all key religious institutions, including Akharas, Khalsas, and Mandaleshwars, have been completed. The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction and emphasized respectful engagement with saints and spiritual leaders.
Adityanath further instructed the development of a new bathing ghat in the Arail area within three days and the deployment of 550 shuttle buses by January 5, 2025. He called for additional provisions for women, the elderly, and differently-abled visitors, ensuring their seamless participation in the event.
Enhanced Facilities and Cultural Celebrations
Key highlights include:
- Helicopter Flower Showers: Arrangements for flower showers from helicopters during the six main bathing festivals.
- Medical Readiness: 3,305 hospital beds have been reserved across multiple facilities, including Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital and Motilal Nehru Hospital.
- Infrastructure Progress: 28 pontoon bridges, 520 km of checkered pathways, and over 54,700 streetlights have been installed. Advanced drainage, water supply, and electricity systems are also operational.
The city is undergoing a thematic lighting transformation with over 3,300 poles illuminated and 90,000 toilets installed.
Cultural and Social Integration
The Chief Minister urged the citizens of Prayagraj, saints, and visitors to contribute to the vision of a “Clean Maha Kumbh, Clean Prayagraj.” Authorities have been directed to remove encroachments across the city ahead of the event.
Addressing Fake News and Misinformation
CM Yogi also issued stringent directives to curb the spread of fake news and disinformation on social and digital platforms, emphasizing countering propaganda against Indian culture and traditions with appropriate responses.
With over 1,200 meters of floating jetties and extensive preparations for a seamless experience, Prayagraj is set to host a grand Maha Kumbh, reflecting India’s rich heritage and modern governance.
