CM Yogi calls for Har Ghar Nal Se Jal audit

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed to conduct a third party audit to monitor the progress and quality of works of ‘Har Ghar Nal Se Jal’ scheme under Jal Jeevan Mission. In a meeting held at his official residence, the CM asked the officials to ensure monitoring and coordination of the schemes in collaboration with public representatives.

CM Yogi said, “There should be no compromise on the quality of works related to public interest. Roads damaged due to water supply works should be repaired on time, and public representatives should inspect it.” He also said that the accountability of departmental officials will be fixed and third party verification will be done to ensure quality.

The CM reviewed the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission projects across the state, especially in Bundelkhand and Vindhya region. He informed that about 80% of the projects of Jal Jeevan Mission in the state are solar based, and the central government has recognized this initiative as a best practice.

Key figures under Jal Jeevan Mission

41,000 projects have been approved in the state.

The total expenditure is estimated to be Rs 1.52 lakh crore.

The Centre and State governments will jointly bear 50% of the expenditure.

More than 33,000 projects are solar based.

The solar model has resulted in a cost overrun of Rs 13,444 crore.

The solar model will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 13 lakh metric tonnes.
