Biodiversity Calendar unveiled sets ambitious goals

Lucknow: A review meeting was convened at the Forest Department Headquarters to discuss the preparation for achieving tree plantation targets for 2025. The meeting was chaired by State Minister (Independent Charge) for Forests, Zoological Gardens, and Climate Change, Arun Kumar Saxena, and State Minister for Forests, Zoological Gardens, and Climate Change, K.P. Malik.

Key discussions included the physical and financial progress of the social forestry plan, verification of plantation sites, wildlife no-objection certificates, and updates on the DPR for the Kukrail Night Safari. The meeting also reviewed progress on various departmental schemes, including CAMPA fund allocations, and preparations for the International Wetlands Day and International Bird Festival events.

The ministers emphasized the importance of strict adherence to the Uttar Pradesh Forest Conservation Act, 1976, and directed that tree plantation efforts continue without compromising the safety of local communities. The session concluded with the release of the Biodiversity Calendar by the Uttar Pradesh Biodiversity Board. Senior officials and district-level forest officers participated in the meeting, including the Chief Principal Conservator of Forests, Sunil Chaudhary.
