18th Lok Sabha: Congress led INDIA gains, BSP on shaky wicket

18th Lok Sabha

Lucknow: In the counting of votes for the 18th Lok Sabha, a big upset is being seen on 80 seats of Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha elections 2024. In the initial trends of the election counting, the elephant of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is nowhere to be seen in the race. At the same time, the INDIA alliance seems to be taking a big lead.

Big upset in initial trends

While the BJP and NDA, which formed the central government from UP, seem to be suffering huge losses. UP is called the center point in the politics of the Center. In the last election 2019, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the maximum number of seats out of 80 from this center point and formed a majority government at the Center for the second time under the leadership of Narendra Modi. But this time in the 2024 elections, the BJP is seeing a big upset in the first three hours of counting from the political center point of the country.

Public anger against the candidates

BJP is getting a lead of 40 to 45 seats. In the trends, the Samajwadi Party (SP) is maintaining a bumper lead in more than 30 seats. On the other hand, in the India alliance, the Congress party seems to be getting a lifeline on more than five seats. The biggest loss in this election is that the political influence of the Bahujan Samaj Party seems to be decreasing and the elephant is not seen roaring on any seat.

If the trends of the first three hours turn into results, then the politics of BSP and Mayawati will reach the abyss completely. Senior journalist Anjani Nigam told about the initial trends of the counting of votes that the way the election has turned, the reason behind it is not against the BJP but the public’s anger towards their candidates.

The party did not change the candidates on many seats despite knowing the anger of the public, which is currently benefiting the SP and the opposition alliance. In this election, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati played the role not for victory but to save her legacy. Therefore, BSP does not seem to open its account on any seat in the state. This election will prove to be a wipeout of Mayawati’s politics. However, the entire situation will become clear after 10 to 12 rounds of counting by 2-3 pm.
