Ayodhya: The selection of the main characters for the world famous Ramnagar Ramlila starting from Anant Chaturdashi has been done. Atharva Pandey of Marufpur, Saidpur (Chandauli) will play the role of Shri Ram. He was in the role of Sita last time.
The selection of children for the Ramlila starting from 17th September was finalized recently. Five children were selected after the second and final round of Swar Pariksha in the presence of Kunwar Anant Narayan Singh at Ramnagar Fort. Aditya Mishra of Jagatpur Varanasi will be in the role of Janaki. Devraj Tripathi of Prahladghat will play Bharat and Suraj Pathak of Godhna Chandauli will play Laxman. Om Upadhyay of Narayanpur Mirzapur was found suitable for the role of Shatrughan.
Apart from Atharva, Devraj Tripathi was also in the role of Bharat last year. At the same time, Suraj Pathak, who played the role of Shatrughan for two consecutive years, was selected for the role of Laxman this time.
All the selected children are in the age group of 15 years. The training of the selected children has started in the presence of Ramlila Vyas Raghunath Dutt at Baluaghat Dharamshala, which will continue till the end of Ramlila. During this entire period, these five children will stay away from their families and will imbibe their respective roles under the tutelage of Vyas.
