Unnao: The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting two drug traffickers involved in the smuggling of illegal charas. The seized contraband weighs 6.77 kilograms and is valued at approximately ₹30 lakh in the international market.

The arrests were made on January 18, 2025, around 12:30 PM near the railway station in Achalganj, Unnao.
STF’s Investigation and Strategy
The STF had received multiple intelligence reports about the activities of international drug traffickers operating in Uttar Pradesh. Acting on these reports, various STF teams were tasked with investigating and apprehending the culprits under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police Avnishwar Chandra Srivastava.
On January 18, 2025, a tip-off informed the STF that a consignment of charas was being transported via road from Bihar to Unnao. Acting swiftly, an STF team led by Sub-Inspector Pawan Kumar Singh laid a trap and successfully apprehended the accused near Achalganj.
Interrogation Findings
Ganpat Yadav
Ganpat revealed that he worked as a laborer in Motihari, Bihar. He was lured into drug trafficking by an individual named Ujair, who offered him ₹5,000 per trip to deliver charas to Israr alias Guddu in Kanpur. Ganpat confessed that he had transported charas 5-6 times before being caught.

Israr disclosed that he had been imprisoned in Kanpur under the NDPS Act, where he met Ujair. After his release, Ujair contacted him and initiated him into the drug trade. Israr admitted to sourcing charas from Ujair and distributing it across Unnao and neighboring districts.
Legal Action and Future Proceedings
A case has been registered under Case Number 20/2025 at Achalganj Police Station, Unnao, under Sections 8/20 (B)(C) of the NDPS Act. The local police are now handling further legal proceedings and investigations.
This successful operation highlights the STF’s relentless efforts in curbing drug trafficking in Uttar Pradesh and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
