Agra – The Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission successfully hosted a Regional Workshop on the 30th and 31st of January 2025 in Agra to discuss the challenges and strategic interventions for the implementation of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gramin Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) 2.0 and Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETI) 2.0, set to begin in 2025. The workshop aimed to strengthen the framework for these pivotal schemes under the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), focusing on ensuring the achievement of set goals while optimizing available resources.
The event was attended by key stakeholders from participating states and Union Territories (UTs) including Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Ladakh, in addition to Uttar Pradesh. Pankaj Yadav, Joint Secretary, Skills, MoRD, chaired the deliberations, guiding discussions on improving the outcomes of the skill development programs.
Key figures from the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission, including Shri Abhishek Singh, Mission Director, as well as MD/CEOs, COOs, SRLM/SSDMs, RSETI officials, and Skill Division members from MoRD, were also present. The workshop focused on a comprehensive review of the states’ performance under the schemes and provided a platform for states to present their insights and propose improvements.
State Performance and Key Discussions
During the workshop, states showcased their achievements and challenges under the DDU-GKY and RSETI programs. A key part of the discussions was centered around ways to optimize performance and reach the targets set for these skill development initiatives. States exchanged viewpoints on improving the implementation strategy to ensure better outcomes in terms of skill training, job placements, and rural entrepreneurship.
In his concluding remarks, Pankaj Yadav emphasized that both DDU-GKY 2.0 and RSETI 2.0 would be rolled out under a reorchestrated framework, focusing on better resource utilization and ensuring that the desired outcomes are achieved. He stressed the need for operational clarity and shared that the MoRD would soon finalize the operational modalities and release the revised guidelines for these schemes.
Operational Guidance and Next Steps
Yadav also urged the participating states to focus on completing any remaining targets and utilizing leftover resources from the current version of the DDU-GKY by the end of the fiscal year. This would ensure the smooth transition into the 2.0 version of the schemes while maximizing the potential benefits from the ongoing efforts.
The MoRD’s efforts to streamline the operational aspects of DDU-GKY 2.0 and RSETI 2.0 aim to further enhance the reach of skill development programs across rural India, ensuring that youth in these areas are empowered with the necessary skills for sustainable livelihood and entrepreneurship.
