Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh has transformed into a major driving force behind India’s economic progress, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said while addressing the FICCI National Executive Committee Meeting on Monday.
Highlighting the state’s financial turnaround, the chief minister claimed that Uttar Pradesh has more than doubled its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) and per capita income, a feat he said makes the state a national leader in growth.
He pointed out that earlier administrations left the state’s economy struggling, and per capita income had dropped below the national average. “In the last eight years, the changes in Uttar Pradesh are clearly visible not only across the country but also abroad,” he remarked.
Adityanath credited the state’s progress to investor-friendly reforms, the crackdown on financial leakages, and a focused effort to strengthen law and order. “From being a financially weak state, Uttar Pradesh is now revenue surplus and stable,” he said.
He also stressed that the improvements were made possible under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating, “The state is no longer lagging; it now stands second in terms of overall economic size.”
Asserting the government’s focus on infrastructure, the CM cited achievements like India’s longest expressways, an expanding rail network, and the country’s first rapid metro system as examples of fast-paced development. He also confirmed that Jewar Airport is on track to become operational in 2025, boosting connectivity and investment potential in the region.
With a strong push on economic reform, infrastructure, and good governance, the chief minister maintained that Uttar Pradesh is steadily moving towards becoming a key player in shaping a developed India.
