Tussle clearly evident between Netanyahu, Benny Gantz

Benny Gantz

Tel Aviv: Benny Gantz, a key member of Israel’s three-member war cabinet, has threatened to resign from the government if a new plan for war in Gaza is not adopted. In a recent interaction he has been quoted saying that  if a new plan on war is not adopted, he will resign from the post on June 8. This threat indicates a deep tussle among the Israeli leadership, which has been waging war in Gaza since October.

What is the plan

Amid the ongoing war in Gaza, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has been threatened by war cabinet member Benny Gatz that he will resign if he does not implement a decisive war plan against Hamas by June 8. He said that the plan includes the elimination of Hamas, safe return of hostages, formation of an alternative government in the Gaza Strip and return of Israeli residents to the north.

Harmful effects on civilians

He criticized Netanyahu’s leadership and said that if Netanyahu chooses to lead like this, the country will go into the abyss. Then we will separate from the government, turn to the people and form a government that can bring real victory.

Gantz acknowledged that the war is having a harmful effect on civilians but said that a decisive decision needs to be taken. It is worth noting that a massive conflict has been going on between Israel and Hamas since 7 October 2023.
