Lucknow: The Traffic Awareness Month – November 2025 was inaugurated at the Reserve Police Lines in Lucknow by Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Babloo Kumar. The event, held under the theme “Smooth Roads, Safe Journey,” aimed to promote road safety, responsible driving, and awareness about the Good Samaritan initiative.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Kamlesh Dixit, senior traffic officers, volunteers, and a large number of students. The program began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a rally flagged off with balloons and green flags. The rally featured Racer Mobile Units, Pink Scooty, TRV, and Pink Patrol teams — all spreading the message of safe and disciplined driving.
Focus on Road Safety through the ‘5E Model’
Addressing the gathering, Joint CP Babloo Kumar said that the Lucknow Police is actively working on the ‘5E Model’ to curb road accidents and enhance public awareness. The five key elements include:
- Education – spreading awareness through schools, colleges, and public campaigns.
- Enforcement – strict implementation of traffic laws.
- Engineering – improving road design and infrastructure.
- Emergency Care – ensuring timely medical response.
- Environment – maintaining clean and organized traffic surroundings.
Promoting Compliance and Awareness
Traffic volunteers Pankaj Sharma and Ehtesham educated participants about traffic regulations and the importance of adherence to them. They highlighted that following traffic rules not only saves one’s own life but also protects others on the road. It was announced that the traffic department will organize workshops in schools and colleges to spread awareness about road safety, urging students to follow rules and encourage their families to do the same.
Good Samaritan Scheme Highlighted
The session also focused on the Good Samaritan scheme, under which citizens who help road accident victims by taking them to hospitals will now receive an increased incentive of ₹25,000, up from the previous ₹5,000. Officials said this step aims to encourage more people to assist accident victims without fear or hesitation.

Strict Action Against Traffic Violators
The Joint Commissioner warned that under the Motor Vehicles Act, violators will face strict penalties. Drivers found breaking rules five or more times may face cancellation of their driving licenses and vehicle registration.
The event also announced a series of awareness activities throughout November, including street plays, painting contests, essay competitions, and public interaction programs.
Officials reaffirmed the Uttar Pradesh government’s commitment to reducing road accident-related deaths by 50% by 2030, in line with the Stockholm Declaration 2020. The initiative emphasizes that education, enforcement, and engineering together can make roads safer for all.
With this launch, Lucknow Police set the tone for a month-long campaign dedicated to creating a culture of disciplined, safe, and responsible driving across the city.
