Lucknow: Transport Commissioner Uttar Pradesh Chandra Bhushan Singh has directed all Deputy Transport Commissioners (Zone), all Divisional Transport Officers (Administration/Enforcement), all Assistant Divisional Transport Officers (Administration/Enforcement) to check passenger/school vehicles continuously for one month to prevent road accidents.
For this, he has assigned date wise duty to Divisional Transport Officers at various toll plazas of the state (list is attached). Along with this, there are instructions that on the prescribed dates, each Divisional Transport Officer (Enforcement) will personally attend the respective toll plaza and take enforcement action along with all the enforcement officers of the division.
One interceptor will be exclusively deployed at each identified location. Information and photos related to the action taken will be sent to the departmental Whatsapp group. Any kind of deviation will not be accepted without the permission of the undersigned.
The Transport Commissioner said that the increasing road accidents in the state are a matter of great concern. Road safety and safe transportation of school children is one of the priorities of the state government. Chief Minister and Transport Minister give instructions from time to time to prevent road accidents.
He said that to prevent accidents of passenger vehicles and school vehicles, it is necessary that all the documents of the vehicles are valid and the drivers follow the traffic rules.
The Transport Commissioner said that in comparison to the total passenger / school vehicles registered in the state, the fitness / permit of most of the vehicles is not valid, due to which the Transport Department is directly responsible for any untoward incident.
He said that for this it is necessary to get the list of passenger / school vehicles registered in your districts through the Vahan portal and ensure challan / closure action against such vehicles when the validity of fitness, permit, insurance etc. expires. While checking the passenger vehicles found during checking, the vehicle should fulfill the standards prescribed in AIS 119 and if any kind of deficiency is found, the vehicle should be necessarily detained at police stations / safe places.
Along with this, the vehicle is operated by loading luggage up to a higher height on the luggage carrier built on top of passenger vehicles, if the said loading is more than 1.5 feet, the operation should be done only after unloading the luggage.
The Transport Commissioner directed that the Assistant Divisional Transport Officer / Registration Officer should obtain the list of passenger / school vehicles in their respective districts from the Vahan portal and issue a notice to the concerned vehicle owners if the fitness, permit, insurance etc. documents are not valid. Taking cognizance of the recent surprise inspection by the Transport Minister himself, he has given the above instructions to the departmental officers.
