Lucknow: On the occasion of Chhath Mahaparva, the Yogi government is organizing Swachh Ghat Competition 2.0 in the state. The main objective of this competition organized till 8 November 2024 is to ensure cleanliness, beautification, and plastic-free environment on the ghats.
Many activities have also been organized to promote this competition among various bodies. Under the competition, Arpan Kalash have been installed to maintain cleanliness on the ghats, so that awareness about cleanliness can be increased among the people. Along with this, the ghats have been declared as no plastic zone so that the use of plastic and thermocol can be banned.
Toilets and bathing houses are being set up on the ghats during the competition. Regular maintenance of these facilities is also being ensured. These facilities are being strengthened with the participation of Swachh Sarathi Club, schools, colleges, universities, NGOs and other voluntary organizations.
Innovative activities have been organized to beautify the ghats and bring about a complete change. Dustbins have been arranged for proper disposal of garbage so that the ghat area always remains clean. Also, various activities are being organized to ensure maximum participation of citizens in the cleanliness of the ghats. NGOs, CSOs and other voluntary organizations are supporting this cleanliness campaign. These organizations are running cleanliness campaigns on the ghats and explaining the importance of cleanliness to the people.
