Statewide Protest Against UP BJP Government’s ‘Liquor Bumper Offer’

Real Liquor Scam Happened Under Yogi Government: Vinay Patel, Provincial President

Lucknow: Members and office bearers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged strong protests in all districts of Uttar Pradesh against the liquor bumper offer introduced under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government. The demonstration opposed the state government’s liquor policy, which offers a ‘buy one, get one free’ scheme. Protesters submitted a memorandum addressed to the Governor, demanding an immediate rollback of the policy.

In the state capital, Lucknow, Provincial President Vinay Patel and District President Iram Rizvi led a protest march from the Health Building to the District Magistrate’s office, where they handed over a memorandum to the sub-divisional officer. Senior AAP leaders and activists also submitted a petition urging the Governor to immediately discontinue the ‘liquor bumper offer.’

Provincial President Vinay Patel accused the Yogi government of promoting liquor consumption at the cost of the state’s youth and society. He demanded strict regulations on liquor sales and measures to curb its harmful effects. He further stated that such promotional offers would only escalate addiction issues, which are already a serious concern.

AAP leaders alleged that the real liquor scam occurred under the Yogi government and emphasized that the administration should focus on societal welfare rather than generating revenue through the liquor business. They urged the government to take responsibility and implement stringent policies to regulate alcohol sales.

District President Iram Rizvi labeled the ‘buy one, get one free’ liquor policy as a massive scam, accusing the BJP government of colluding with liquor traders for financial gain. She demanded an inquiry by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the matter. Rizvi further criticized the government for handing out liquor bottles to youth instead of employment opportunities, warning that AAP would fight against this policy both on the streets and in the assembly to prevent Uttar Pradesh from becoming a liquor hub.

Key participants in the protest included Provincial President Vinay Patel, former leader Dinesh Patel, Teacher Cell State President Mahendra Singh, District President Iram Rizvi, CBI-SS State Incharge Vanshraj Dubey, Vaibhav Prakash, Pankaj Yadav, Tushar Srivastava, Subhashini Mishra, Rani Kumari, Johnny, Ankit Parihar, C.K. Prasad, B.N. Khare, Atul Singh, Anit Rawat, Sahil Ansari, Abdul, Wasim Siddiqui, Anshul Yadav, and Shatrughan Yadav, among several other party workers.
