State-Level Senior Men’s and Women’s Badminton Tournament Kicks Off in Lucknow

Lucknow – Under the aegis of the Directorate of Sports, Uttar Pradesh, the state-level senior men’s and women’s badminton tournament commenced today at Guru Gobind Singh Sports College, Lucknow. The competition was on from March 25 to 27, 2025, which attracted 140 players from 18 divisions across the state.

The tournament was inaugurated by former Olympian  Syed Ali and  Animesh Saxena, Principal of Guru Gobind Singh Sports College, who met and encouraged the participating athletes before the matches commenced. The chief referees for the event have been appointed by the Uttar Pradesh Badminton Association. Also present at the occasion were  A.R. Ansari, former Sports Officer, along with trainers and teachers from the sports college. The event is being managed under the supervision of  Udaybhan, Education Incharge. The inaugural ceremony concluded with  Animesh Saxena expressing gratitude to the chief guests and other dignitaries.

Match Results of the Day:

  1. Adarsh (Prayagraj Hostel) vs. Yuvraj Singh (Prayagraj Division) – Adarsh defeated Yuvraj Singh by a score of 30-18.
  2. Reshav Kumar Dinkar (Bareilly) vs. Anuj Kumar Srivastava (Vindhyachal Division) – Reshav Kumar Dinkar triumphed with a 30-10 victory.
  3. Shubham Paswan (Varanasi) vs. Pranjal (Devi Patan Division) – Shubham Paswan secured a win with a score of 30-09.
  4. Ansh Handa (Saharanpur) vs. Shivansh Mishra (Ayodhya) – Ansh Handa won 30-15.
  5. Visham Yadav (Prayagraj) vs. Mayank Yadav (Moradabad) – Visham Yadav emerged victorious with a 30-15 score.
  6. Vedant Tripathi (Devi Patan) vs. Abhay Sharma (Ayodhya) – Vedant Tripathi won 30-12.
  7. Pranav Bhati (Meerut) vs. Kusagra Rajoria (Aligarh) – Pranav Bhati won with a close 30-26 score.
  8. Varchasva Sen (Sports College) vs. Suryansh (Lucknow) – Varchasva Sen won 30-20.
  9. Nitin Kumar (Saharanpur) vs. Akhil Kumar (Vindhyachal) – Nitin Kumar secured victory with a 30-13 score.
  10. Shivam Joshi (Lucknow) vs. Prince Sharma (Aligarh) – Shivam Joshi dominated with a 30-08 win.
  11. Shreyash Kumar (Varanasi) vs. Adarsh (Devi Patan) – Shreyash Kumar won 30-14.
  12. Shivam Malik (Saharanpur) vs. Siddharth (Meerut) – Shivam Malik claimed victory with a 30-17 score.
  13. Mohd. Tej (Prayagraj Hostel) vs. Ayush Kumar (Sports College) – Mohd. Tej won convincingly with a 30-11 score.

The tournament is set to continue over the next two days, promising more intense competition among the top shuttlers of the state.
