Bareilly: On the fourth day of the 11th Shriram Murti Memorial and Second UP State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, Masters matches were held on Sunday.
Veteran players showed more enthusiasm than the youth and struggled for every point. The final matches of the Masters category were played on Sunday, the last day of the tournament organized by Shriram Murti Memorial Trust run by ‘Stag Global’.
Veteran male and female players above 39 years of age participated in it. In this category, veteran men were placed in six categories (39+, 49+, 59+, 64+, 69+, 74+) and veteran women in two categories (39+, 49+). MN Khare (Veteran 74+) from Lucknow, Major General (Retd.) RN Masaldan (Veteran 69+) from Gautam Buddha Nagar, HS Negi (Veteran 64+) from Lucknow, Deepak Singh (Veteran 59+) from Prayagraj, Abhishek Mani (Veteran 49+) from Sultanpur and Saurabh Poddar (Veteran 39+) from Agra won in their respective categories and emerged as the toppers.
In the women’s category, Pallavi Singla (Veteran 39+) from Bareilly and Dr. Anita Nath (Veteran 49+) from Bareilly were the champions in their respective categories.
UPTTA President Sanjeev Pathak, UPTTA former General Secretary Arun Banerjee, Tournament Director NK Lahiri, International Blue Badge Umpire Amit Singh, Bareilly Table Tennis Association Secretary Dipendra Kamthan, Sriram Murti College of Engineering and Technology Dean Dr. Prabhakar Gupta, Tournament Organizing Secretary Dr. Sovan Mohanty presented trophies and certificates to the winning players.
