According to Javed Akhtar, “Even though I frequently went to bed hungry and arrived in this city as a young man without a job, contacts, or money, quitting never crossed my mind.” Nonetheless, I’ve always known that I would want to tell the world about my life narrative. I want to express my gratitude to our family, friends, and the industry for their heartfelt support in helping us capture our experience. We are thrilled to tell our story to a worldwide audience on Prime Video and provide them with an honest glimpse into our path from early hardships to realizing our goals.
Angry Young Men director Namrata Rao expressed her excitement for her first endeavor, stating, “It has been an incredible experience to direct this docuseries on Salim-Javed.” Their tale is very motivating and full of unexpected turns, and it has given me a wonderful chance to launch my directing career. I’ve learned a lot about life, film writing, and overcoming obstacles as an artist by interacting with Salim and Javed Saab. They relate stories with a natural candor, humor, and vocabulary. Their tales are replete with endearing anecdotes and insightful observations. It’s also an exploration of the extravagant movies of the 1970s. On August 20, Prime Video will release the uncensored version of the tale of these two legends in India and 240 other countries and territories. I can’t wait for everyone to watch it.”
