SMRJ School Gomti Nagar makes global advocacy a youthful affair

Lucknow: Seth M.R. Jaipuria,Gonti Nagar known as a ‘School of Conscious Transformation’, aims to elevate its students from ‘Ignorance to Knowledge’. The school hosted the Twelfth Edition of the Jaipuria Model United Nations from July 18th to 20th, 2024. This three-day conference was a major affair with over 400 delegates from across the nation participating.

JMUN has established itself as a prominent event in the MUN community, eagerly awaited by MUN enthusiasts across the state. Building on its rich legacy, the Twelfth Edition of JMUN included eight dynamic committees: the United Nations General Assembly, United Nations Security Council, US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, Historical Lok Sabha, United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development, United Nations Human Rights Council, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and the Global Press Summit.

The opening ceremony was a splendid affair, marked by the presence of Ms. Tulika Srivastava, Executive Director of International Women’s Rights Action Watch-Asia Pacific (IWRAW-AP), as the Chief Guest. She spoke about how important it was for students to come together and tackle topics like refugees and conflicts.

Following the opening ceremony, delegates proceeded to their committee rooms, prepared to delve into the world of diplomacy. They discussed agendas such as ‘Peacekeeping Methods’, ‘Global Economic Disparities’, and ‘Refugee Nation’, drafting appropriate resolutions.

After fostering a sense of consciousness among the students, the Twelfth Edition of JMUN concluded with a closing ceremony as grand as its opening. Mr. Rajendra Kumar Jalan, Chairman for Leather Exports in India (Ministry of Commerce), graced the event as the Chief Guest, distributing awards to the deserving delegates.
