Skill-based courses to be offered under Project Praveen

Lucknow: The Minister of Vocational Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) Kapil Dev Aggarwal held a departmental review meeting at the Vidhan Sabha office. The progress of ITI institutes and the plans under the Skill Development Mission were discussed in detail during the meeting.

The minister instructed to enhance the quality of education in ITI institutes. He emphasized that students should be trained based on the latest technology and trends to provide them with better employment and self-employment opportunities. He stressed the need to start new trades and directed that trades with low enrollment be either discontinued or merged with other courses. Additionally, he highlighted the need for awareness campaigns to motivate students to join ITIs.

The minister discussed the proposal to offer skill-based courses under Project Praveen according to the interests of students. This project aims to inspire children from rural areas to develop skills from a young age. He also instructed regular inspection of private ITI institutes and ensuring their adherence to government standards. He directed the launch of special campaigns to present the success stories of students and attract the youth towards ITIs and skill development programs.

To ensure easy access to ITI campuses, the minister directed the construction of approach roads. The meeting also reviewed the updated status of financial approvals. The minister instructed officials to expedite all financial processes so that the implementation of plans can proceed on time. He also informed that the Government of India is undertaking efforts to upgrade ITI institutes, and a proposal for the upgradation of ITI institutes in the state will be sent to the central government. These institutes will be equipped with modern equipment and training materials to provide students with high-quality technical education.

It was informed during the meeting that 150 new ITIs have been established under the PPP model with Tata Company’s collaboration. The aim is to train the youth of the state in modern technical skills and provide them with employment opportunities. These institutes will offer specialized skills based on industry demands, ensuring direct employment for trained youth. The Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission aims to train and provide employment opportunities to as many students as possible during the financial year 2024-25.
