Lucknow: The state government is fully committed to control the infant mortality rate in the state and for this, work is being done in a planned manner at various levels.
In this sequence, a one-day training of trainers (TOT) of 29 faculty members of various medical colleges of the state was organized in Lucknow. The said training session was inaugurated by Parth Sarathi Sen Sharma, Principal Secretary, Medical Health and Family Welfare, Medical Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh.
On this occasion, Parth Sarathi Sen Sharma, while addressing the trainers, said that the Health Department is continuously making efforts to reduce the infant mortality rate and bring unexpected positive changes in health indices.
In this direction, a one-day training of trainers is being organized for the faculty members of the medical college today. The trainers being trained today will soon organize training for skill and capacity enhancement of medical officers working in the Sick Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of various medical units of the state. This effort will prove to be a foundation stone towards reducing the infant mortality rate in the state.
On this occasion, Director General, Family Welfare, Dr. Ratanpal Singh Suman said that it is hoped from the trainees that the medical officers posted in various medical units providing newborn care and treatment will benefit the general public with the knowledge and skills gained through this training.
On this occasion, General Manager Child Health, Dr. Suryanshu Ojha said that 10 medical colleges of the state – Azamgarh, Agra, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Kanpur Nagar, Etawah, Meerut, KGMU & RML Lucknow and AMU Aligarh have been identified for organizing the 12-week bridge course for 271 medical officers of various medical units of the state. National Health Mission UP, KGMU Lucknow, Directorate General of Family Welfare UP, UPTS University and UNICEF have played an important role in preparing this course. On this occasion, Dr. Mala Kumar, Head of the Department of Pediatrics, KGMU Lucknow, Dr. Renu Srivastava, UPTSU Lucknow and Dr. Amit Mehrotra, Dr. Kanupriya Singhal and Dr. Anand from the partner organization UNICEF were present.
