Lucknow: Under the patronage of Professor Devendra Kumar Singh, Principal of National PG College, Lucknow, the third day of the seven-day special camp of the National Service Scheme (NSS) commenced at Motilal Memorial Society Lawn. The camp is themed “Youth for My Bharat, Youth for Digital Literacy” this year.

The inauguration ceremony began with the worship of Goddess Saraswati, followed by the NSS theme song, “Uthe Samaj Ke Liye Uthe Uthe…” which was sung in unison by all participating students, creating an atmosphere of patriotism.

NSS Program Officer, Professor P.K. Singh, shared insights into the history of NSS, encouraging the volunteers with his words and conducting a quiz session. Students who answered correctly were rewarded. Dr. Archana Singh highlighted the importance of NSS activities in social welfare, including literacy initiatives, environmental protection, health and hygiene awareness, and disaster relief efforts.

In the first session, Manju Prakash, a trainer from Pidilite, provided hands-on training in the art of tie and dye, which was met with great enthusiasm from the participants. After lunch, the second session featured Akshay Kumar, Project Coordinator from the Family Planning Association of India (UPCSR Box), a freelance counselor, and a life coach. He conducted an engaging session on identity crisis, mental stress, and depression, incorporating an interactive activity to emphasize the importance of communication. His session conveyed the message that one’s thoughts shape reality.

Following this, trainer Anuj conducted a Taekwondo self-defense session, teaching students essential kicking and blocking techniques. The day concluded with a cleanliness drive, during which students organized a rally and two groups participated in a “plogging” activity along the banks of the Gomti River. They collected plastic bottles and polythene, disposing of them in designated areas.
