Lucknow – In a swift and commendable response, the Madiyav police successfully averted a potential tragedy, rescuing a 20-year-old girl who had been reported missing and was found attempting to commit suicide by jumping into the Gomti River from Ghaila Bridge. The girl, a resident of the Madiyav area, had left home on October 4, 2024, following a disagreement with her family.
A missing person report (No. 97/2024) was registered at Madiyav police station by her family members, and the investigation was assigned to U.N. Pradeep Kumar. A dedicated police team was constituted to search for the girl, with efforts ongoing since her disappearance.
This morning, the police received critical information indicating that the missing girl was planning to jump into the Gomti River from Ghaila Bridge, located on the IIM Road. Acting immediately, Head Constables Ram Dinesh Singh and Ramnarayan Verma, along with Constables Sagar Tomar and Narendra, rushed to the location.
Upon reaching the scene, the police successfully intervened and brought the distressed girl to safety. She was immediately taken to the police station, where she was provided with counseling and support. During the inquiry, the girl explained that she had left her home in anger but had not intended to harm herself initially.
The police promptly contacted her family, who arrived at the station shortly thereafter. The girl was safely handed over to her family members, who expressed immense gratitude to the police for their timely intervention and ensuring her well-being.
The swift actions of the Madiyav police in preventing a tragedy and reuniting the girl with her family serve as a reminder of the critical role law enforcement plays in community safety.
