Dhaka: Nobel laureate Dr. Mohammad Yunus was sworn in as the chief advisor of the interim government of Bangladesh on Thursday. His team has taken over the reins of the South Asian nation. On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated Mohammad Yunus. Along with this, he gave a special message. PM Modi has congratulated Mohammad Yunus. Along with this, PM Modi expressed hope that normalcy would be restored soon in Bangladesh and appealed for the safety of Hindus and other minority communities in the country.

PM Modi wrote on the social media platform X, “My best wishes to Professor Mohammad Yunus on assuming his new responsibility. We hope that normalcy will be restored soon and the safety of Hindus and all other minority communities will be ensured. India is committed to working with Bangladesh to fulfill the shared aspirations of the people of both countries for peace, security and development. ”

Bangladesh President Mohammad Shahabuddin administered the oath to Yunus as the equivalent chief advisor to the Prime Minister in the presence of foreign diplomats, members of civil society, top businessmen and members of the opposition party at the Presidential Palace in Dhaka. No representative of Hasina’s party was present on this occasion.
16 other people have been included in the interim cabinet. Now Yunus faces a big challenge to restore peace in Bangladesh and prepare for new elections.
Hasina’s ouster from power was described as ‘second freedom’
During the swearing-in ceremony, Yunus said, “I will uphold, support and protect the Constitution. I will discharge my duties honestly.” Before taking the oath, he described Sheikh Hasina’s ouster from power as ‘second freedom’. He also advised the protesters.
He said, if we want peace and stability in the country, then not a single bullet should be fired now. The government will ensure the safety of the people. Together we will build a new Bangladesh. He said, ‘Today is a proud day for us. We have got independence for the second time. We have to protect this freedom.’
Expressed gratitude to the youth
He expressed gratitude to the youth who made the movement against Hasina successful. He said that first of all he would like to emphasize that “the country should be saved from violence, so that we can move forward on the path shown by the students. Bangladesh is a family. We have to unite it. It has immense potential.”
Yunus is a social entrepreneur and banker who received the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize for his work in microfinance. His work helped reduce poverty in Bangladesh and was widely adopted around the world. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had to step down due to political instability in Bangladesh and now she has come to India.
