Lucknow: Dr. Sandeep Kapoor who has been born and brought up in Lucknow has come a long way from being a man of the not for profit and corporate sector, to one who is now a founder Chairman of Health City Vistaar.
After years of service in the medical profession, he setup Health City in Lucknow. Having set up good team of committed professionals, Dr Sandeep Kapoor and his team are working towards a common goal to launch the Grand Health City Vistaar which promises to change health Care as we know it in Lucknow city.
Born in Lucknow, Dr Sandeep Kapoor started studies in Christ Church School, after that he did MBBS in KGMU, did MS in KGMU, senior residency in Holy Family Hospital, Delhi. Beyond India he also worked at King Fahad Centre Saudi Arabia. He came back to Lucknow and served for 12 long years as the chief consultant at Vivekanand Polyclinic.
Among his other assignments include Sahara Hospital, Ford Hospital and Health City. With the collective experience of about 35 years, Dr. Sandeep Kapoor now looks at creating the new crop of healthcare specialists to make them well equipped with the knowledge that can turn them into professionals and also help them gain respect and money.
Dr Sandeep Kapoor sowed the seed of Health City in 2013 and in 2016 it became reality. Speaking to The Lucknow Tribune, Dr Sandeep Kapoor said that Health City Vistaar much like Health City promises to be a cut above the rest, because it has all well known doctors working with experience, driven by a common vision, ethical practices, up to date with technology, offering quality Health Care at the affordable price.
When asked how you describe affordable Healthcare, Dr Kapoor said that affordable healthcare in his mind was that one is not driven by the return on investment. In other institutions, there are top notch investors and investing geniuses who pump in money which drives up the cost of health facilities.
In this case because medical professionals are at the helm, cost effectiveness will be at the heart of Health City. He said because insiders are monitoring the working of the organisation, all the gap analysis has been done and the pricing of health facilities will be many times less.
He said skilled hands and proper doctors will monitor purchases, unlike other places where the supply chain works with less expertise. A systematic approach will almost half the cost.
Talking of the launch he said that dry run of the organisation will start by 15 July and it will be fully functional in first week of August.
Dr Sandeep Kapoor is of the view that with all well known doctors in Health City, all of whom are pioneers and leaders, the patient will not be driven by brands, but more by skilled manpower, which is home grown- those who are pillars of the city
Referring to the bariatric surgery set up which has just come up – he said a specialist from Ahmedabad is now leading this setup along with our own Consultants team. Health City Vistaar will have equipped units which will be much more advanced.
Dr Sandeep Kapoor calls himself a docpreneur. He said there are many things that are driving business acumen these days which includes evolution of IT and investing geniuses, risk taking capacity, change in the mind set, faster decision making, greater confidence and experts A boom in the health care set up is coming but fundraising remains a challenge.He said doctors want to join hands in the journey of Health City Vistaar because they want to drive in change and give back to society in a setup driven by passion.
In recent years Health City has been well represented in GIS, at all the three ground breaking ceremonies. It is only possible because the government has also reposed trust and confidence in the growing stature of an institution like Health City.
Dr. Kapoor said that I have definitely evolved from the time when I used to think more about personal achievement and looked at name, fame, money and power. I used to think about personal achievement, but eventually I realised that being a team player helped me grow. I have been a sports person throughout,involved in field sports during my school days now with Golf. I learnt that to go ahead collaboration is the way forward.
When not wearing the doctor’s court Dr. Kapoor spends time walking, golfing or even listening to podcasts The most preferred subjects are Gita, leadership talks, success mantras, talks on happiness, motivational speeches, travelling and socializing.
Talking of the need for better bone care, while aging Dr. Kapoor says that with the life expectancy increasing and age increasing the bone starts turning brittle. He hence says there is requirement for multi dimensional exercise and bringing down bad habits. He calls for nutritious diet, sunlight, cutting down smoking and alcohol, consuming more leafy vegetables and even milk. He says good food can never be substituted by supplements. Rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing Spondylitis are some of the major issues that crop up because of genetic predisposition.The doctor says that females have greater issue of bone & joint health as compared to men. There is Greater awareness among millennials and now even the aged are walking more in the evening so as to keep their motor joints active.
