Lucknow: In a significant breakthrough, the Sushant Golf City Police in Lucknow have uncovered a large scrap theft racket. The police were tipped off about two trucks with the same license plate number parked near Amaravati Tirahe. Upon reaching the spot, the police seized both trucks and arrested eight individuals involved in the crime.
Police Investigation Reveals Suspicious Activity
During their investigation, the police discovered that both trucks shared the same registration number, UP13DT0598. However, discrepancies were found when comparing the chassis and engine numbers, which raised suspicions. Upon further questioning, the accused revealed that they had planned to steal scrap material from the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) building construction site and sell it.
Details of the Racket Unveiled
The accused also confessed to a trick they used to steal scrap. They would fill up the trucks with scrap material and weigh them. During the process, the trucks would be swapped, and the one with less scrap would be weighed to show a lower weight. This method allowed them to steal additional scrap, which was then disposed of undetected.
The police are also investigating the involvement of a buyer named Rajeev Pandey, who is believed to have been part of the racket. Efforts to locate him are ongoing.
