LDA sets next phase of Green Corridor project in motion

Lucknow: In the third phase of the Green Corridor project, a dam will be built from Pipra Ghat to Shahid Path, with a survey scheduled by LDA officials and the army. A portion of the dam, 2.8 km, falls within the cantonment area, requiring the transfer of 21.81 hectares of military land to the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA).

Following local-level meetings with the Defense Estate, Army, and Irrigation Department, the proposal was approved and sent to the Ministry of Defence. The project aims to construct a 5.8-km flood embankment along the right bank of the Gomti River. LDA Vice Chairman Prathamesh Kumar recently held discussions in Delhi regarding the project’s alignment, which was adjusted to meet the Ganga Flood Control Council’s standards.

Special provisions, including ramps and underpasses, will be made for the smooth movement of army personnel. A fresh alignment for the embankment is being prepared after instructions from the Ministry.
