India Sees Major Growth in Mobile and Internet Connections

New Delhi : Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced today that the number of mobile phones in India has surpassed 1.16 billion, and internet connections have reached approximately 950 million over the past decade. The minister made these remarks during the inaugural session of the Indian Mobile Congress and the World Telecommunication Standardization Conference.

Scindia emphasized the significance of these events in bringing together equipment providers, service providers, and standard setters, highlighting the collaborative nature of the evolving telecommunications industry.

“The last decade has been a technology-driven period for India,” Scindia stated, adding that the country is already setting its sights on future advancements, including the development of 6G technology, with a target to implement it by 2030.

He further remarked that India is poised to lead in cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Data Center development, positioning the country as a global tech leader in the coming years.
