Governor presides over Independence Day celebrations

Lucknow: A splendid cultural programme imbued with national spirit was organised  at Raj Bhawan in the august presence of the Governor of the state  Anandiben Patel on the auspicious occasion of 78th Independence Day. Students of Lucknow University, King George Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow and Dr. Shakuntala Mishra National Rehabilitation University, Lucknow, litterateurs and poets of Lucknow participated in this programme and mesmerised the audience with their unique presentations.

On this occasion, the Governor praised the programme and said that the artists have not only brought alive the cultural heritage of our country and the spirit of the freedom struggle, but have also given the message through this platform that the coming generations will cherish our history and values. This cultural programme is not only a means of entertainment, but is also a powerful medium to awaken the spirit of patriotism.

Appreciating the poets who presented their works in the programme, the Governor said that poets can express deep thoughts in few words through their creations. Emphasizing on organizing such programs, the Governor said that programs like Kavi Sammelan relieve mental fatigue and provide new energy. Science students take more time to say their point, but poets say a lot in just one line.

Remembering the freedom fighters in her address, the Governor said that today reminds us of their sacrifices and struggles, due to which we are living in an independent and strong India.

The program started with the National Anthem, Raj Bhavan Song and Har Ghar Tiranga Song launched by the Government of India, after which a series of various cultural presentations started. Through their presentations, the artists presented the rich cultural heritage of the country and the struggles of the freedom struggle.

On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor Dr. Sudhir Mahadev Bobde, Special Officer Education Dr. Pankaj L. Jani, all the officers, employees and students of the Raj Bhavan and children were present.
