Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath government is constantly trying to reduce human-wildlife conflict. In view of the increasing attacks by wild animals recently, the government has decided to make school children aware. In this regard, ‘Wildlife Week’ will be organized across the state from October 2 to 8.
During this time, various programs will be organized for the conservation of state bird Sarus, state wild animal Barasingha, national aquatic animal dolphin and other wild animals. Competitions like debate, speech and painting will be organized to make students aware of wildlife and environment.
Benefit of free admission
Under Wild Life Week, school children up to 12 years of age will be given free admission in Lucknow, Kanpur and Gorakhpur zoological gardens. Children will have to come in school uniform with identity card. Apart from this, students will also be given a tour of forest sanctuaries by the district level forest divisions.
Special competitions in Lucknow
Aditi Sharma, Director of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Park, Lucknow, said that many competitions based on wildlife and environment will be organized for open class and school children in Lucknow too. These include wildlife fancy dress competition, quiz competition, mehndi competition, street play competition, face painting, rangoli competition and photography competition.
The winners will be honored on October 8 at the Lucknow Zoological Park campus. This week is being organized with the aim of increasing awareness about wildlife conservation and developing sensitivity towards the environment among students.
