101 Underprivileged Couples Tie the Knot at Chohariya Mata Temple
Culture Minister Announces Revamp of Maa Siddhidatri Chohariya Shaktipith Temple Premises
Lucknow: The 25th annual mass wedding ceremony took place today at the revered Maa Siddhidatri Chohariya Shaktipith Temple in Chinhat, Lucknow, on the auspicious occasion of Dashami. A total of 101 underprivileged and needy couples were united in holy matrimony through traditional Vedic rituals, marking a new beginning in their lives.
The event was graced by the former Governor of Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh, Kalraj Mishra, while Uttar Pradesh’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Jaiveer Singh, attended as the chief guest.
Extending his blessings, Minister Jaiveer Singh lauded the initiative, saying, “Such events are a source of inspiration for society. They symbolize social harmony and collective support. The efforts of the temple committee and everyone involved in organizing this ceremony are truly commendable – this is service to humanity in its truest form.” He further added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, significant work is being done towards women empowerment.
In a major announcement, Singh declared the revamp of the Maa Siddhidatri Chohariya Shaktipith temple premises, stating that the rejuvenation work will commence within this financial year.
Former Governor Kalraj Mishra congratulated the newlyweds and wished them a bright and prosperous future. “This mass wedding not only blesses the bride and groom with marital bliss but also brings them the goodwill of both society and the government,” he remarked.

Minister of State for Labour and Services, Raghuraj Singh, also addressed the gathering and shared his thoughts on the significance of the occasion.
Mahant Lalla Baba, the chief priest of the temple, shared that this sacred event is held annually on the Dashami of the Chaitra month. “This year marks the highest number of weddings ever conducted at the temple – 101 in total,” he said.
Shailendra Pandey ‘Shailu’, the temple’s guardian, informed that each couple was gifted clothing, essential household items, and other necessities as part of the ceremony. “By the grace of Maa Chohariya, the event was a grand success,” he added.
The event concluded with a community feast and blessings, as the newly married couples were given a heartfelt farewell.
Prominent personalities present at the ceremony included local MLA Yogesh Shukla, Pradeep Singh Bablu, Sandeep Singh Rinku, Samajwadi Party leader D.P. Yadav, Manoj Yadav, Prabhat Srivastava, Sunil Kumar, and Ramchandra Singh, among others.
