Lucknow: Union Minister for Labour, Employment, Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, announced the expansion of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) coverage to 15 more districts in Uttar Pradesh. With this notification, 74 out of 75 districts in the state are now fully covered under the ESI scheme, benefiting 30.08 lakh insured persons and 1.16 crore beneficiaries.
The newly notified districts—Ambedkar Nagar, Auraiya, Bahraich, Gonda, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Kannauj, Maharajganj, Mahoba, Pilibhit, Siddharthnagar, Shamli, Pratapgarh, Kasganj, and Shravasti—add 53,987 new insured individuals to the ESIC network.
Nationally, ESIC now covers 689 districts, with 586 fully notified. To expand coverage further, ESIC is working with state governments, utilizing CHCs and PHCs, and integrating with Ayushman Bharat for cashless medical care.
ESIC provides comprehensive social security, including medical benefits, cash benefits for illness, maternity, disability, and unemployment support. The government remains committed to ensuring every eligible worker is included under ESIC’s safety net.
