Emma Roberts speaks on playing Britney Spears

Washington: Actress Emma Roberts responded to the speculation that she was chosen for the Britney Spears biography.

Roberts seemed more than ready to take on the role, stating that she has been practicing for at least 20 years, after Spears’ assistant recommended the actress play her in a movie version of the singer’s book “The Woman In Me.”

She told Cosmo, “I was like, I love her assistant,” according to deadline.com.

To be honest, playing Britney Spears is my real fantasy. Although it’s only a rumor, maybe it will come to pass. I mean, I can still clearly recall locking myself in my room, listening to In the Zone, and declaring that I would not be allowed to go until I had learned every word.

Concerning her admiration for Spears, she said, “I mean, I sing Britney to my son in the bath all the time.” God, I constantly think, ‘He must think I’m so crazy.’ That’s a really millennial way to parent.

Roberts was first proposed for the part by Spears’ longtime assistant Felicia Culotta, who told TMZ that the actress’s rise to fame as a youngster on “Unfabulous” is similar to Spears’ own teenage years on “The All-New Mickey Mouse Club.”

Culotta also recommended that Drew Barrymore, who has been Spears’ personal assistant since 1997, portray her own assistant and Timothée Chalamet as her former boyfriend Justin Timberlake.
